FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (and answers)
about Kitchen Guy Chef Services
1. How much advance notice do you need for me to book a party with you?
The more notice the better. But generally, I need about two weeks because of purchasing requirements, staffing and facility arrangements.
2. Do you require a contract?
Yes. Kitchen Guy Chef Services LLC uses a standard catering contract that spells out all of our terms as well as your rights and responsibilities.
3. What are your payment terms?
We require one half of the total no later than two weeks in advance of your party. The balance is due on the day of the party before we begin service. Gratuities are at your discretion.
4. How much notice do you need to add or subtract guests?
The sooner the better, but we can make adjustments as late as one day before. Our contract terms, however, may override if you are subtracting guests.
5. Do you charge for consultation?
Our first consultation, when you call us and we arrange an appointment, is free and carries absolutely no obligation. Based on that meeting, a menu and cost estimate for your party will be delivered to you. Once the contract is signed, additional consultations – especially for menu changes – carry an extra charge.
6. Can I provide my own food for you to cook?
Unfortunately, no. We are obsessed with health and safety and we purchase our foods from reputable suppliers. The only exception, and this is by special arrangement, is game that you have legally acquired and butchered.
7. Where is the food for my party prepared?
We rent time and space in a licensed commercial kitchen. These facilities are inspected and certified by the Missoula City-County Health Department. On the day of your party, we will want to use your kitchen to heat certain service items.
8. Are you a licensed caterer?
There really is no such thing. But we do maintain a business license from the City of Missoula and we are certified by Serv-Safe, the industry standard for healthy and safe handling of food.
9. Do you offer gift certificates for your catering service?
Yes. You can purchase a gift certificate over the phone, by regular mail or e-mail. These gift certificates make great gifts and our most popular is for a “Romantic Dinner for Two.” We will be happy to advise you regarding the purchase of gift certificates for special occasions, birthdays, anniversaries and holidays.
10. What other services do you offer?
Kitchen Guy Chef Services LLC also offers personal chef services and culinary instruction. Our personal chef service offers a two-week menu of specially prepared foods so that you can eliminate the daily drudgery of figuring out what’s for dinner. All you have to do is remember to defrost. Our culinary instruction service can be tailored to individuals or to groups. One of our most popular offerings is a “Culinary Inspirations” party for you and your guests, where we cook a full four course meal. And now we've established the Montana Culinary Institute for serious cooks who want to elevate their skills to a higher level.
